Mac OS X's trademark widgets are still there, and the app just gives you a familiar, user-friendly, and dare I say "fun" way to perform the relatively simple task of recording audio. The difference between this non-traditional UI and a non-traditional UI like the CanoScan Toolbox is that Tape Deck's isn't horrible. It isn't traditional, and it probably breaks just about every user interface guideline there is. Tape Deck's UI isn't what most of us are used to in an application. Tape Deck isn't bloated with features or totally unnecessary eye-candy, and best of all, anyone who has ever used a tape recorder will be able to use it right away. A new app from SuperMegaUltraGroovy Software (FuzzMeasure) and Toasty Code (LCD Scrub, Cuckoo, and Pyrotheque) is just that kind of app. It's so intuitive that anyone can pick it up and use it. Every once in a while, an application comes out that just works.
